It's been ONE year....

My baby is turning ONE this week and there isn't a SINGLE picture of her on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How does this happen??? Well let me just list a few things that have kept us too busy to BLOG over the last 12 months.

1. We now have TWO children. Two children under 2 - 1/2, that is.

2. We have TWO children.

3. And last, but certainly not least -- we have TWO children. :)

Those of you that have 3+ children -- stop judging me. It is hard and I am tired. :)

Riley keeps me on my toes with questions like, "Is Jesus God?" and "Are you going to have more babies?" She is a manipulative sweetheart and loves to challenge me. She likes to tell everyone that she loves her little sister, but sometimes we aren't so sure. I caught her strangling Reesie yesterday evening after her little sister took a matchbox car from her.

Reesie on the other hand is a thrill seeker. We spend every waking moment trying to keep her alive. She will scale a brick wall and dive off before you can say "stop". She has been "cruising" and crawling and getting herself around for nearly 3 months. However, she is still a few weeks away from making it on her own as a "walker"/toddler. How can a non-walker still manage to get on top of the kitchen table?

I'm sure you would much rather see pictures, than hear from me. So here are a few from the last few weeks.

Everyone is getting BIGGER!!

Riley is ALMOST 18 months old!

I have been so bad about updating our blog (and taking photos for that matter). This will probably be the one and only entry before little Reese Ryan makes her appearance!

(24 days and counting...)

In a nutshell - the whole bunny/egg concept did not go over very well at our home. Here is our little girl all dressed up for church. You would have thought we were trying to kill her by making her wear that dress. Mom won on the dress, Riley won when it came to the shoes.

But she sure looked PRETTY!

She was much more comfortable with the dang thing OFF! I think we may have a little TOM BOY on our hands. :)

The Easter Egg Hunt wasn't a very big hit either.... she was pretty content with only one egg!

I had a good time watching Matt gather the rest... :)

The funniest thing of all was her visit to the Easter Bunny... let the photo speak for itself!

A few other important things to note... Riley is "cruising" around the couch, coffee table, etc. We think she is merely weeks away from walking. Look at our late little bloomer stand!

And yes... Mom continues to get bigger as well. In fact, Mom is officially HUGE. Here is the one and only belly shot we have or will take of Baby Reese! Only a few more weeks.....

I wish I had a dollar for every time I've received the "concerned look" from a fellow mom when I tell them that Riley is not walking. I wonder what they would think if I told them that in fact... she's not even TRYING to walk. And why should she be... when she can scoot? She seems to think she gets around perfectly fine on her behind.

According to Nana Linda, Matt scooted the exact same way and didn't walk until 18 months.

I've decided I might worry if she's not walking by TWO. But for now, we just enjoy watching our little girl "scoot" and are thankful for such a joyful child! Enjoy the video - Christmas pictures to come soon.

Catching Up!

As you can tell, keeping up with a one year old keeps me very BUSY! Here's what you've missed.... The good ole days before daylights savings time took our afternoon fun away. Riley's Halloween as the cutest bumble bee in the world. Her 1st weekend at deer camp and her first SNOW!

And last, but certainly not least... we found out we are having another GIRL. Yes, Riley is going to have a little sister. We are thrilled. Here are a couple of updated photos of our precious 14 month old!!

babies will only be 18 months apart. Baby Harper #2 will be

here at the end of April!!

Riley is changing everyday. Her extensive and mature vocabulary now consists of words like "uh oh", "up", "choo choo" (for train), and "hi dada"!!! :) She still doesn't crawl, which we find hilarious! The pediatrician thinks she will skip crawling all together and go right to walking. She somehow manages to drag herself where she needs to go and is starting to try to pull up! Personally, I'm looking forward to the mobile stage soon because lugging 24 lbs around is starting to get very heavy. Ugh!

Talking, Walking and Wearing Shoes....

"Hi" has turned out to be Riley's first word.  It is precious and is accompanied by the most enthusiastic wave and smile.  She's nearly 11 months old and spends the majority of her time running around in her walker.  We've even had to get her some shoes with rubber soles so she can take her little party outside.   This weekend we were working in the yard and found Riley chasing her shadow around the sidewalk.  It is hard to believe she's going to be ONE in just a month or so.

My favorite thing is when she hears me come home

 and runs all the way to me with this grin!!!

She was so fascinated by her new friend, aka "Shadow".  

She followed "her" around for at least 30 minutes.
